Lot consists of (A) American made tiger maple-stocked flintlock musket, probably New England. This 18th century musket features a round barrel of American manufacture with a bayonet lug mounted on top. British lock with partially visible crown in center. Brass furniture including a Brown Bess style trigger guard and other American manufactured hardware. Fine highly figured tiger maple stock of attractive form, brass nose band. Ramrod a modern replacement. CONDITION: Lock a replacement, one lock bolt absent, the other modern. Sideplate escutcheons are absent. Stock very good with a dry surface. (B) American Committee of Safety type flintlock musket. Tapered octagon smoothbore barrel with brass half moon front sight and bayonet lug mounted on bottom. Early French and Indian War period imported trade lock with a scroll-engraved convex lockplate. The American-manufactured brass furniture includes a French style trigger guard, Long Land Pattern Brown Bess style sideplate, Brown Bess style wrist escutcheon marked "B / 30" and brass ramrod ferrules and 3-stage buttplate tang. Cherry stock of early form with pin fastened barrel. Front 21 - 1/2" inches of forend are period replaced, as well as front 2 ramrod ferrules. Steel ramrod a modern replacement. CONDITION: Dark and untouched overall. Barrel retains a dark heavy patina. Lock missing its external components. Brass retains a dark patina. stock is dark and untouched, scattered marks from use, minor chips and age cracks. DMG
