This unmarked musket is perhaps Dutch, third quarter of the 18th century. Round barrel with bayonet lug towards muzzle. French 1774 style lock. Brass furniture including 3 barrel barrels, although the center band is iron. Buttplate tang is engraved with arms motifs. Beehive design on trigger guard finial. Stocked in walnut and branded "C56" on right side of buttstock as well as the underside. CONDITION: Barrel retains a dark brown patina. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration and retains a matching dark patina. Brass retains a mustard patina, buttplate shows some losses to edges toward toe on both sides. Center band spring is broken and partially missing. Sling swivels period removed. Stock shows scattered cracks, dents, splinters and age cracks. A nice untouched musket. DMG
