Among the first produced circa 1873, numbered "49". Finished in full nickel plate with 4 - 1/2" octagon barrel with unplugged loading lever port, New York address, small cone front sight, 5-shot rebated conversion cylinder with rolled stagecoach holdup scene, "COLTS / PATENT" marked frame, and 2-piece varnished walnut grips. Serial number "49" observed on barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. Cylinder arbor and loading gate are numbered "21", and the cylinder "36". Wedge is numbered. Accompanied by a larger tooled slim jim holster faintly marked marked on the belt loop. CONDITION: Very fine. Revolver retains the vast majority of its factory nickel with flaking and loss. Markings and cylinder scene are sharp and legible. Grips have some impressions and scratched, with the majority of the original varnish retained. Black powder abraded bore. Good mechanics, cylinder does not always turn when action is worked. Holster has wear to the surfaces but remains supple.
