A very desirable and collectible sheriff model, manufactured in 1887. This is a no-record gun, but there is a three page letter from Ron Graham explaining this gun. In his letter, he states that this Colt is a no-record factory original (stocks excepted), single action Sheriff's Model. It has a two line barrel address on top of the barrel "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". It has an etched panel on the left side of the barrel "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". There is a 44 stamped on the bottom of the barrel. Three line patent dates on the left side of the frame. Caliber designation on the left front trigger bow "44CAL". Matching serial numbers observed on the frame and trigger guard. There is a silver plate that has been machined into the bottom strap of the grip. It is engraved with a zig zag border and the name "JIM". Blue and case color finish with a set of mother of pearl grips. CONDITION: This gun retains some of the original factory applied blue finish. The etched panel is good. There are traces of the case color in the protected areas, with the remainder turning silver. The screws have not been molested. The silver plate shows some darker patina. Grips have a few small chips and nicks along the edges. They are not original to this gun. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. Action has all four clicks and locks up tight.
