According to the Colt Factory archive letter, this gun left the factory as a .41 Colt with a 2 - 1/2" barrel, nickel finished, with rubber stocks. It was shipped to Colt's Patent Fire-Arms Mfg. Company San Francisco Agency, San Francisco, California, on November 9th, 1889, in a shipment of 5 guns. So it is a true Western shipped gun. It has a half moon front sight with a V notch rear sight. Six shot fluted cylinder and two piece hard rubber grips with the Colt logo at the top of each grip. Two line barrel address on top of the barrel. "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." Etched panel on the left side of the barrel. "COLT D.A. 41." Three line patent dates on the left of the frame. Caliber designation on the left rear of the trigger bow "41 CAL". The interesting thing about this gun is that the center pin was never finished. The knurling is only cut in one direction. CONDITION: This gun retains most of the original factory-applied nickel finish. Most of the finish loss is to the cylinder. The grips show some wear, but have great checkering. Bore is good with well-defined lands and grooves.
