The factory letter states that serial number 162814 was shipped on March 19, 1908 as .41/c, 4 1/2" barrel, flue finish and sent in a 1 gun shipment to W. Bingham Company of Cleveland Ohio. The listed blue finish includes the standard case color frame with fire blue screws, trigger and top/back of hammer. Matching numbers on cylinder, frame, trigger guard and back strap. There is a .41 stamped under the barrel. Loading gate is stamped with assembly number 587. The two piece gutta percha grips are not etched with a number. The left side of barrel is roll die stamped COLT DA 41. The top of barrel has two line barrel address. Left side of frame has the three line patent dates with Colt pony in circle. Left trigger guard has VP proof. The pink label picture box has the black & white sticker in lower left corner that reads "THE WITHIN REVOLVER IS NOT ADAPTED FOR SMOKELSS POWDER". There are two end labels. One is black & white and states WITH EJECTOR. The blue label confirms gun as a 4 1/2 Rubber Blue .41. The inside lid label advertised the Ideal No 4 loading tool. CONDITION. Excellent. The barrel and housing retain 99% factory high polish blue with some scattered light handling marks. The cylinder retains 98% blue with hint of high edge wear and light handling only. The straps and trigger guard retain 99% blue with only light handling. The frame retains nearly full coverage case colors but muting. The screws are true and retain the majority of their fire blue. The trigger and hammer are still bright blue. Grips are excellent. The bore is crisp and bright. Action works both single and double. The box is intact with all aprons and complete corners & hinge. The top label has a 1 1/2 x 2" spot near center, average age chipping and scattered dark areas. The Ideal label is bright but shows some rubs.
