The factory letter states that a 4 3/4" 38-40, serial 346905, blue with grips not listed was shipped in a one gun shipment on March 10, 1925 to the Union Hardware & Metal Company in Los Angeles California. The original maroon Colt box with royal blue end label also reads as per letter. This revolver features the standard blue finish as listed with case color frame & hammer, high polish blue screws and gutta percha Colt grips. Both of the grip panels have matching numbers etched inside. Left side of barrel is stamped .38 WCF. Top of barrel has proper short two line address. Left side of frame has two line patent date stamp with pony and no circle. Trigger guard has the VP stamp. CONDITION. Excellent. The barrel shows only a hint of muzzle wear, barely noticeable. Ejector housing also shows the same hint of wear on end with light handling. The back strap retains 99% blue with light handling. Trigger guard displays some very light side high edge wear. The cylinder retains 98% of the factory blue with touch of high edge wear, a couple age freckles and a light drag line as well as a light circumference lines. Grips are superb and crisp. The screws remain true retaining nearly all the blue with exception to grip screw. Case colors are almost completely intact with a bit of thinning on loading gate and a single 1/8 " dark spot at bottom back corner on right side of frame. Strong colors on hammer. The action has all four clicks and locks up correctly. The bore is bright. The box is excellent. All aprons intact with solid corners, no repairs, usual average edge wear and some minor skin flaking. The end label shows some minor edge chipping but is bold and correct. Hinge is complete. The inside lid Colt trade label is sharp with just some minor age spots. The original illegible price sticker is present. Even the box inside base label is complete and clean.
