Manufactured 1892. This was the year that the transverse cylinder pin was introduced. This gun utilizes the original style black powder frame with a screw-in pin retainer. Features the blue and case color finish. Barrel is stamped ".41 COLT". Proper short two line barrel address. Left side of frame has two-line patent address with Pony in circle. The hammer is case color. Screws are bright high polish blue. Correct Colt gutta percha eagle grips with no number etched inside. The cylinder is early beveled type with removable bushing. Matching numbers on frame, trigger guard, and back strap. The original pink picture box has the "not adapted for Smokeless Powder" label in left corner. The maroon cardboard box has the corresponding blue end label for a rubber, blue, 4 - 3/4", .41 caliber gun, but pencil number on bottom is 190832. The yellow and red Ideal label attached to the inside lid is brilliant. CONDITION Excellent. The barrel and ejector rod housing retain approximately 98% blue with some light wear on housing tip about 1 - 1/2" back. Barrel shows a bit of muzzle wear on left side. Cylinder retains nearly all of the blue in flutes with about 50-60% on flats blending with patina. The back strap retains at least 80% blue with light freckling. Trigger guard and front strap show a bit of high edge wear and light thinning. The frame retains strong color at forward area and flashes on frame with balance having pattered grey. Hammer still has good color on sides. Screws retain majority of blue and are true with only the cylinder pin retaining screw showing any real wear. The grips are crisp. All legends are sharp. Action has all four Colt clicks and locks up like new. Bore is bright. The box is also in excellent condition. All aprons are compete and corners intact. The pink picture cover is still bright with some average edge chipping and a few minor darker age spots but very clean and vibrant. There is the usual overall high edge wear. The blue end label is clear with a bit chipped off on left side partially obscuring the 4 - 3/4. Amazing condition for a 130 year old box and Colt.
