According to the Colt factory archive letter, this gun left the factory as a .38 Colt, barrel length not listed. Finish was blue, grips were not listed. It was shipped to B. Kittredge & Company, Cincinnati, Ohio, on April 24th, 1877, in a shipment of 50 guns. Two line address on top of the barrel, "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." There is an etched panel on the left side of the barrel, "COLT D.A. .38". Three line patent dates on the front left side of the frame. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, grip, back strap, and the back of the cylinder. The number 241 is on the loading gate. One piece course checkered rosewood grip. It comes in an original factory Colt pink picture box. This gun is retailer marked on top of the barrel, "B. KITTREDGE & CO. / CIN. O". CONDITION: This gun retains the majority of the retailer applied nickel finish. There is some finish loss to the barrel and cylinder. The grips are in wonderful condition with sharp checkering. Good bore with sharp lands and grooves. The gun works in both single and double action. The box is in very good condition, with some writing and glue on the lid. The label shows edge wear and some staining.
