C.H. Dana. This map shows agricultural land, rocky prairie land and mountain land, but interestingly makes no mention of oil-rich lands. Between 1926 and 1927, five Seminole area oil pools were found that were so rich in oil, they swung the United States’ oil inventory from scarcity to surplus, which dramatically changed the region’s economy. C. 1899.
