An attractive example of a Third Reich period German hunting cutlass. Nickel-plated steel blade, with dull edges and sharp tip. Reverse ricasso is marked by Alcoso with ACS and scales. The blade is wonderfully etched with the standard hunting scenes of that period, showing moderate blemishes, but the original etching remains crisp. The spine is decorated with etched leaves. Brass hilt with hoof quillon and a D-guard. Stag grips with 3 decorative acorns fastened to the grip. A green and silver portepee is affixed to the grip. The scabbard is constructed of black leather with brass fittings. Upper mount features an acorn stud, which accommodates a green leather frog. The blade exhibits a light patina with unmolested etching. Hilt exhibits a pleasing patina with with nice traces of original gilding. Stag grips are intact with light wear. Scabbard exhibits scattered blemishes with nice patina to mounts. CONDITION: Very good.
