Manufactured circa mid-1870s as a factory conversion with Model 1860 Army parts. Standard blued 7 - 1/2" blued barrel with New York address and German silver blade front sight. Loading lever slot plugged and an ejector rod fitted to the right side of the assembly. Rare early naval engagement scene rolled 12 stop conversion cylinder, fitted at a later date, and numbered "8921". Frame marked on the left with 1871/1872 patent dates. Steel grip straps and smooth 1-piece ivory grips. Matching numbers observed on frame, barrel assembly, and straps. Wedge is unnumbered. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel retains a few traces of original blue, the balance of the gun cleaned bright. Left side of grip displays a rich mellow amber patina, the right somewhat lighter with defined striations. Strong bore with some black powder abrasion in the grooves. Crisp mechanics.
