This poster sized image is framed to 45" x 30 1/2" and has some slight water staining but the image remains clear. A very scarce size for this famous and important image.
Letter from the consigner:
"This original enlarged tinted photograph measuring 42" x 28" is from the 1910 photographic series of the three westerners: Buffalo Bill, Pawnee Bill and my great-grandfather Buffalo (Charles Jesse) Jones. The photographic seating was done in 1910 in New York City. This piece has been in my family since then. My grandmother, Ollie, CJ’s daughter had this at her home in New Jersey and when she moved with my parents and me to Lancaster, PA in the 1960’s it came with her. It has been in my possession since 1969. This iconic image has been on the cover of Newsweek as well as recently on the cover of the magazine: Legends of the Wild West. Needless to say, we are very proud of Buffalo Jones; he is credited with preserving the Bison, as he realized in the late 1800’s that they were almost extinct. Buffalo Jones is featured in the October 2023 Ken Burns documentary “The American Buffalo”."
