German World War II Red Cross Hewer with unmarked blade. The blade exhibits very nice factory cross graining throughout its length. The blade remains bright with the exception of a few areas of light marks or greying. The crossguard and pommel are made of silver plated zinc, with no visible lifting and light patina throughout. The black Bakelite grip plates are without damage and appear untouched. Obverse is checkered, reverse is smooth. The black-painted steel scabbard exhibits scattered marks throughout, and retains most of its original black finish. Light impressions on the paint on reverse. The upper and lower fittings are made of nickel-plated zinc and exhibit a nice patina. Complete with a black leather frog with faint maker mark on reverse. CONDITION: Very good.
