Late production manufactured in 1866. Rifle features a blued 24" octagon barrel chambered in .44 Henry Flat RF and stamped on the top flat with large style 2-line address. Correct later style tapered squared back German silver blade front sight and replacement dovetail mounted folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1000 yards. Full length magazine tube with large brass follower and forward sling bar. Classic brass frame stamped with Benjamin Tyler Henry's "H" inspection mark on the lower tang. Late form walnut stock with an obtuse comb angle and a defined Henry bump. Later style brass butt plate with pointed heel. Matching numbers observed on the barrel breech, lower tang, and stock inlet. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel displays a chemically turned brown patina with some cleaned oxidation spots and a sharp address. Receiver has a some nicks and dings, a few of which have been polished out and patinaed to match the overall, attractive mellow golden patina. Hammer has some cleaned oxidation and is a possible replacement. Stocks have been cleaned with some added finish and scattered marks, including a larger ding at the comb line. Strong bore with some black powder abrasion. Fine mechanics. A truly iconic and highly desirable repeating rifle, one of the most advanced of its time, popular among soldiers in the Civil War and on the frontier pushing West.
