Manufactured in 1863, in classic configuration throughout. Factory engraved with floral and acanthus scroll on a punchdot background with classic wolf's head on hammer, typical of Colt factory engraving for the period. Matching serial numbers found on barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, cylinder, and butt. Mounted with 1 piece ivory grips custom hand carved with an American eagle with "E Pluribus Unum" in ribbon above. Complete with American partitioned wood case lined with green velvet. Accessories in case comprise brass powder flask, empty tin of percussion caps, and bullet mold. CONDITION: Very good as partially restored, with a minority of the thinning original bluing remaining on barrel mixing with a gray patina. Frame is a gray patina. Cylinder scene is faint but still discernable. Engraving is crisp. Back and frontstraps have been re-silver plated. Grips are very good with repaired crack at right grip panel. Action is tight and crisp. Bore is lightly frosted with minor freckling and crisp rifling. Case is excellent.
