Classic configuration with 6" barrel with top rib that reads "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS", German silver front sight, notch rear sight. 2 piece rosewood grips retained by single screw through German silver escutcheon. Cylinder is acid etched with scroll and panoply of arms cylinder scene. Engraved in approximately 75% coverage of New York style scroll on a punchdot background. Period silver plated. Mounted with 2 piece ivory grips. Housed in a red velvet lined French fitted walnut case with decorative brass lid straps and "OBD" inside of lid plate. Accompanied by information on the Sanitary Commission during the Civil War as well as information on Remington 1858 percussion revolver reportedly sent to the Sanitary Fair with acid etched cylinders. CONDITION: Very good, with most of the silver plating remaining on barrel with scattered light freckling and balance of the revolver essentially turned a freckled gray patina. Grips are very good with 2 small repairs on left grip panel and minor chip at right grip panel near butt. Action functions appropriately, with hammer stops being soft. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Case is excellent.
