Octagonal rifle barrel signed on top " - * H? * L". Silver front blade sight and buckhorn iron rear sight. Percussion lock with sprigs of engraving at tail, double-set triggers. Brass furniture includes an ornate engraved patchbox with 8 piercings. Silver crescent moon above cheekpiece and silver oval wrist escutcheon. Highly figured tiger maple stock with relief panels in front of lock and sideplate. Relief checkered triangle carved beneath cheekpiece. CONDITION: Rifle has been shortened. Barrel retains a light brown surface, signature difficult to discern, corrosion at breech. Lock has some pitting and functions properly. Brass retains a light mustard patina and silver has a pewter patina. Stock has an original surface with nice handling wear. An attractive rifle with a nice patchbox.
