Manufactured circa 1901 with checkered gutta percha grips featuring a Rampant Colt on either side in an oval. Marked on left side of barrel "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER". Marked on left side of frame with an added 9-digit number. Marked on backstrap "Deputy Sheriff Babe Shipman Love Co. Oklahoma" in script. More research would be needed to figure out who Babe Shipman was. CONDITION: Fair, with all finishes turned to a gray-brown patina with handling marks and freckling throughout. Grips are well-worn with a repaired crack on left grip panel near grip screw. Action is loose, with side and endshake. Bore is dark with visible rifling.
