This pistol is a war rebuild but does not have any arsenal rebuild stamp. The frame is a Colt circa 1918 type one eagle head inspected (S6) with a WWII Remington Rand slide. It has been altered to the A-1 configuration with checkered arched main spring housing. WWII era hammer, original WWI era trigger, with checkered slide stop and safety. Frame has the "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on left side. Grips are hand carved ivory featuring insignia of the Army Air Corp and China, Burma, India campaign with elephant on both panels. Gun comes with an original photograph showing three men, one of them a staff sergeant wearing a 1911 with white grips, which we assume is this very gun. CONDITION. No original finish, holster worn metal to gray patina. Legends are all crisp. Bore is strong but frosted.
