The slightly curved blade has a narrow single fuller on top on both sides, right side is marked with a crown over "G" in the middle of the blade. Silver guard composed of 2 pieces of layered sheet silver and with four piercings; chased with pinwheels and gadrooning on both sides. Chain knuckle guard extends to repousse silver lion pommel. Ivory grip with band of silver wire wrap. Complete with its original wooden scabbard with leather wrap. Throat mount is silver and brass drag is a period replacement. CONDITION: Blade retains a grey patina. Silver mounts retain a grey pewter patina, capstan a replacement. Chain guard has been re-soldered to guard. Lion pommel has a small chip at base of integral ferrule on right side. Hilt slightly loose to blade. Grip excellent. Scabbard shows losses to leather, mostly on back side and an open seam on top. An attractive Revolutionary War lion pommel officer's sword.
