Lovely 18" (46cm) bisque socket head doll with slightly tinted bisque to reflect what the Germans assumed to be the facial coloring of a child from Southeast Asia. It has brown glass sleep eyes, an open mouth with four upper teeth, enameled and furrowed eyebrows, fine upper and lower lashes and piercing in earlobes. It is incised on the back of the head "SIMON & HALBIG GERMANY 1329 5." She is on the original fully-jointed child body with fine, original patina and coloration that nearly perfectly matches the hue of the bisque head. She retains her original thick black mohair wig, pulled into a long single braid in the center in back and wears a nicely-constructed Asian costume consisting of pale green silk brocade trousers and a long vest coat made of scarlet silk, with lower arms covered in a pale green and red silk brocade pattern. Around the neck is an elaborate collar, made of flowers and bronze-colored metal objects and held together in front by two dangling silk tassel braids. The shoes are reconstructed black leather sandal-types and the earrings that dangle from her earlobes are well-coordinated with the other brass and metal decorations on the collar. The doll also has a crown-shaped headdress made of similar but reinforced material, similar to that of the long tunic, and also decorated much as is the object surrounding her neck. CONDITION: Very good, however there are a few old wig pulls on both sides of head above the ears, reaching to the opening at top, but are well-covered when wig is in place.

Condition: (Very Good)
