Only 2500 Remington Model 720 rifles were produced between 1941 and 1944. A significant portion of these, including this example, were acquired by the Navy Department during World War II and later released as trophy rifles for shooting competitions. It features an engraved presentation on the floor plate reading "SECRETARY OF THE NAVY TROPHY / ALL-NAVY SKEET & TRAP / CHAMPION 1975". Rifle is in otherwise standard configuration, including full blued finish, ramped gold bead front sight, u-notch rear, and checkered walnut stock with checkered Remington butt plate. Left side of stock bears correct martial crossed cannon stamp and "FJA" inspection. Complete with leather sling and original factory paperwork envelope containing instructions and period advertisement pamphlets. CONDITION: Very good overall. Nearly all of the factory blue is retained throughout with some mild high edge wear. Stock has an area of finish loss near the butt plate on the right with only scattered handling marks and impressions otherwise. Bore displays strong, well defined rifling. Fine mechanics.
