Of standard configuration, tapered round barrel with Tower proofs stamped on top, near breech and indistinct makers mark on left side. Flat lock with beveled edges, tail marked "TOWER" and engraved in center with large crown over "GR"; crown and broad arrow stamped below pan, denoting government ownership. Standard brass hardware and a later iron belt hook mounted on left side. Walnut stock with relief apron carved around barrel tang. Replaced wooden ramrod with brass tip. CONDITION: Barrel retains a grey patina, proofs crisp. Lock markings excellent, and lock functions well. Cock and cock screw are later replacements. Brass retains a mellowing patina. Ramrod and belt hook are contemporary. Piece of wood replaced along bottom of lock and a sliver at muzzle on right side.
