Circa 1850s French made, high quality Bowie knife for the American market. Knife is 16 - 1/2" overall with a large 12" blade and 7 - 1/2" false edge. Ricasso stamped "VOILLARD". European red stag scales held width 8 silver pins. Russet brown leather scabbard with nickel silver throat is original to the knife. Pictured in Robert Ables Bowie knife book. CONDITION: Excellent. Cleaned bade with some factory polish. No nicks or dings to edge.
