Circa 1860s large hunting knife by C. Congreve, Sheffield, with a wide, heavy, partly double edged blade, faintly struck 'Celebrated American Hunting Knife' within rectangular border, maker's name and 'WR' at forte, nickel hilt, throat, and pommel cap. Partially checkered ebony slab grips retained by 4 silver pins with shield escutcheon on both sides. A rare blade pattern for Congreve. CONDITION: Good. Overall blade was pitted then cleaned to even gray. Some scattered discoloration overall.
