A very large, circa 1850s - 1860s clip point Sheffield Bowie Knife. Measures 18" overall with a 12" blade and a 3 - 1/2" sharpened false edge. The blade is almost mint, with a heavily beveled, mirror-like original polish. Ricasso stamped "BRAMAH" with heavily patinated stag horn one-piece grips, embossed nickel cross-guard, and matching nickel escutcheon fitted to the top of pommel. Complete in its original dark hunter green leather scabbard with matching nickel mounts. This knife shows hardly any signs of use or wear. An excellent example of a great, authentic, large size, 19th-century Bowie. CONDITION: Excellent. No sharpening or nicks to blade. Period repair to spit in handle that does not interfere with the aesthetics of the knife. Scabbard is solid with no splits or soft spots.
