Beautiful French relief carved flintlock holster pistol made in the second quarter of the 18th century. This early flintlock was the type treasured by soldiers in America during the French and Indian War and the Revolutionary War. The hardware is forged and filed iron and is engraved. The forged iron barrel is beautifully filed with facets. The lock plate is engraved with the French gunmaker's name "Royet", who worked in the town of Sudan, France. The stock is walnut. It has a beautiful forged iron grip cap with spurred pommels. The hardware is exceptional. The relief carving around the tag is outstanding. CONDITION: The lock is in its original flintlock configuration. 2" of the fore stock has been professionally restored. These ornate and early 18th century pistols in great condition are very hard to find. Beautiful French and Indian War period flintlock pistol.
