Circa 1820s - 1830s American nautical style dirk. Overall measures 12" with a 7 - 1/4" blade. Handle is hand carved whalebone with scrimshaw designs, and a small applied silver star escutcheon, topped with a crass throat and crossguard. Retains original whalebone two-piece scabbard held together with 11 small pins on each side. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is heavily cleaned and sharpened. Blade is tight to handle with no wobble. Scabbard seam is tight with no cracks.
