Delivered to the U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt Plant on August 10, 1883 in a shipment of 150 guns of the same type per included factory letter. Martially inspected by David F. Clark on barrel near center pin, frame, cylinder, and bottom of left grip panel (upside down). Matching serial numbers observed on barrel, frame, cylinder, trigger guard, and butt. Inside of grips have been marked to match. 1 piece replacement walnut grips bear "JEG" cartouche dated 1883 on left grip panel and "DFC" cartouche on right grip panel. CONDITION: Excellent, with a significant majority of factory bluing remaining, mixing with a gray patina on typically handled areas such as muzzle, ejector rod housing, and one side of the cylinder near serial number. Frame retains bright case colors. Grips have been cleaned of their finish but markings are easily legible. Grips are strong with small chip near frame on right grip panel, but no other noticeable cracks or chips. Mechanically tight and crisp with all 4 hammer stops. Bore is bright with sharp rifling, possibly only test fired before issue.
