Circa 1918 per Clawson. Classic configuration with half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2-line 2-block patent and address information with Rampant Colt at rear, right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". "H" stamped on top lip above firing pin retaining plate. Barrel with a "5" stamped ahead of lug, and a stacked "P / H" oriented to be read muzzle up. Top of frame with "H" "J" and "G" about disconnector. Frame has "UNITED STATE PROPERTY" on left sid of dust cover and intertwined "GHS" proof for Gilbert H. Stewart. Right side of frame with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spur hammer, thick tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release with milled relief cut, long milled trigger, checkered magazine release, short 1911 grip safety, and smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Two tone magazine with lanyard loop. Grips are truncated diamond pattern checkered walnut. CONDITION: Retains the majority of the Colt bluing with scattered freckled losses across slide, primarily to left side, normal thinning and silvering towards muzzle from holster wear. Frame with thinning to dust cover and straps consistent with use, flats with majority bluing remaining, some brown mossing coming through. Stocks are very good with a few abraded heads and some handling marks, but solid. Mechanically fine, bore with with strong, bright rifling and a few minor pinpricks of oxidation.
