Circa 941 per Clawson. Classic configuration with half moon blade front sight, U notch flat top rear sight that has been slightly rounded to adjust point of impact, and "P" ahead of rear sight, oriented to be read barrel up. Slide has 2 line 2 block patent and address information with intercepting pony on left side, and is correctly serial numbered to the frame under the firing pin retaining plate. Barrel devoid of markings. Top of frame with "CSR" and "G" proof about disconnector. Frame with "CSR" proof under slide release for Major Charles S. Reed, who inspected the approximate serial number range from 717282 to 723000. Other markings include "P" proof at magazine release, "T" and Colt's VP proof on left side of trigger guard, "60" on right side of trigger guard, and US property marking, model designation, and serial number on right side of frame. Small parts comprise checkered spur hammer, thin tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release, checkered magazine release, short checkered trigger, long 1911A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and fully checkered walnut grips. Fully blued magazine with "S" on baseplate lip for Scoville manufacture. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the Colt factory bluing with distension about proofs from application of stamp. Some minor silvering and thinning to muzzle and front of dust cover from holster wear, and more generally to sharp edges. Scattered handling marks, most superficial, a small collection of marks around the right side of the magazine release. Small takedown mark. Stocks are very good with some minor handling marks and abraded heads. Mechanically fine, bore is excellent with strong, sharp rifling. An outstanding example with a scarce inspector.
