Manufactured in 1912. Features include half moon front sight, rounded top "U" notch rear sight, milled relief cut knurled slide lock, smooth long trigger, checkered magazine release with early dimple magazine catch lock, knurled milled relief cut thick tab safety, knurled spur hammer, and smooth mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Mounted with checkered large diamond wood grips. Accompanied by an unmarked 2 tone Colt lanyard loop magazine. Left side of slide is marked with Colt manufacture panel and Rampant Colt near slide serrations. Right side of slide is marked "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". Bottom of slide is marked with "Z" inspector mark, and "H" inspector mark was observed above firing pin retaining plate. Frame is marked with US Property mark and WGP inspector cartouche. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good, as mostly cleaned and worn to a gray patina with 30-35% of the bright original bluing remaining. Slide lock, trigger, safety, and hammer are replacements, but are excellent, retaining the vast majority of their brushed original bluing. Grips are mostly worn smooth, with no major cracks or signs of distress. Mechanically fine. Bore is frosted with sharp rifling.
