24" dovetail lump barrels with bead front sight on a flat smooth rib, with a sprig of acanthus engraving at rear of rib, with stiff leaf engraving at breeches, and a doll's head rib extension with shell motif. Barrel flats with modern British Birmingham proofs for a nitro proved 28 gauge with nominal .571 IBD in right barrel, .563 in left, 2 - 1/2" chambers, at 3 tons per square inch. Tubes with Birmingham proofs "NOT FOR BALL" and "26B/29M". Underside of rib with "W.H." presumably barrel maker, "S" and "1G'. "WW" and "23" at forearm loop. Small splinter forearm with point pattern checkering and lightly engraved on exterior. Round body with acanthus scroll and strapwork edging, with peninsula back action locks engraved en suite with "W.M. Hill" at top of locks. Blued fish form rebounding hammers. Double triggers protected by a blued flat bottom trigger guard with long tang. Vibrantly figured walnut stock with point pattern checkering about the wrist, with a black line spacer and an Olde English pad. CONDITION: Very good as professionally rehabilitated. Barrels with virtually all of their browning with some handling marks and silver at muzzle. Action very good, bright, with visible areas of polishing and oil staining throughout, and a few isolated areas of fine pitting. Stocks very good with handling marks, but free of cracks or chips. Mechanically fine, bores are excellent, smooth and bright. Tight on face, barrels ring like church bells. A well handling gun that should be ideal for upland.
