Circa 1915-1922 per "Holland & Holland: The Royal Gunmaker" by Dallas. Dovetail lump barrels with flat, solid, machine matted rib with steel bead fore sight and an open lozenge that reads "Badminton", further marked with "Holland & Holland" and 98 New Bond street address flanking rib designation; extension for a Scott crossbolt. Refreshed barrel flats with view and proofs indicating a 2001 proof for nitro proved 12 gauge with 70mm chambers (2 - 3/4"), at 900 BAR with nominal 18.6 IBD; traces of previous proofs are visible, but indecipherable as to meaning. Splinter forearm with a somewhat flattened bottom is fit with an Anson plunger release, checkered in a point pattern throughout, and engraved with small scroll and floral accents on exterior iron. Iron with matching serial number on interior. Action flat with CP proof and serial number; evidence of previous proofs obliterated during restoration. Case colored sidelock with rose and scroll engraving with a single central bouquet of roses, with accenting scrollwork and vinework borders. "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" across the bottom of locks. Double triggers are protected by a flat-bottomed trigger guard with engraving en suite, including serial number on a somewhat short tang. Automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold ahead of slide. Buttstock with tear drops behind locks, diamond-shaped wrist, checkered in a point pattern about the wrist with mullered borders, and finished by a horn buttplate. Housed in a leather wrapped case with brass corners, with a red lined interior with H&H trade label in lid, a charge card indicating that the barrels were originally regulated for 36 grains of smokeless powder and 1 - 1/4" oz of No. 6 shot. Paperwork includes a proof certificate dated 2001, and various paperwork from Thomas & Bland when they sold the gun previously. CONDITION: Overall good as rebuilt. Barrels with virtually all of their bluing with some minor handling marks from the field. Newer case colors with heavy fading at carry point, but still strong on lockplates, thinning at edges. Newer stocks with a gloss finish with some very minor marks. Mechanically fine, ejectors are in time but somewhat weak, bores are bright and shiny with very mild frosting. Case is good with some exterior distress as befits a vintage case, but solid and strong.
