Reorganizing as the Royal Gun company and moving from Moundsville W. Va. to Wheeling in 1907, they offered this gun until they folded in 1910. It came in three grades, this being the highest C grade with lovely engraved scroll deer on right and bear on left (we are assuming this grade as the picture of the B grade has lesser embellishment) . The walnut stock has deluxe checkering with round knob and the company logo on gutta percha butt plate. The Damascus barrels are stamped "THE THREE BARREL GUN CO & WHEELING W. VA". The 28" barrels, double 12 ga with 2 3/4" chambers over a 32-40 rifle barrel (caliber stated per a 1908 catalog) feature a barrel mounted peep sight and a leaf rear sight as well as a front sight. Barrels are Damascus with full rib and choked Modified. Splinter fore-arm matches stock and serial number. This is a hammerless gun with double triggers. The rifle barrel firing pin is engaged by special cocker in front of trigger guard. Rear trigger does not seem to engage but front trigger fires one shotgun barrel as well as rifle barrel. CONDITION. Very good. Nice brown / grey Damascus pattern on barrels. Frame colors have faded but sharp engraving. Wood is excellent with scattered impressions but solid and proud to metal. There are a few larger mars on the fore-arm. No visible dents in shotgun barrels. Bores are clean. A very hard to find American made gun.
