Circa 1957-1963 per "Holland & Holland: The Royal Gunmkaer" by Dallas. One of the Northwood guns, which were built outside of the H&H factory in the Birmingham trade, but finished and regulated at Holland & Holland. 32" barrel with serrated matte vent rib with steel fore and mid beads. Left side of barrel over breech with 13 Bruton Street address, right with "HOLLAND & HOLLAND". Barrel flats with modern proofs for a 12 gauge, 2 - 3/4" chambered, nitro proved gun at 3 - 1/4" tons and a nominal .729 IBD. Beavertail forearm with an Anson plunger release and checkered in point pattern with mullered borders. Exterior iron case colored and engraved with diminutive scroll and floral accents. Interior of iron with matching serial number. Action flats with serial number and CP proof. Boxlock Anson & Deely action with "Holland & Holland" on both sides, under breech, engraved with nicely cut and shaded scrollwork, with bordered edges. Trigger guard and trigger plate are blued, engraved en suite. Trigger guard protects a single trigger bladed to the right for a right handed shooter, and is full length to a case colored pistol grip cap with trap, containing a spare striker in wax paper. Somewhat plain stock, with some nice marbling towards right heel, is constructed with side panels, tear drops, and is checkered about the wrist in two panels of point-and-wave pattern with mullered borders. Belly of stock with inset oval with shaded "P.A.F.", probably a previous owner. English-style pigskin wrapped recoil pad with covered screws. Cast is very, very slightly off for a right handed shooter, almost neutral. In a leather wrapped case with wine colored felt lining and H&H trade label in lid with 13 Bruton Street address. CONDITION: Very good. Retains the vast majority of the bluing on barrel, with some handling marks from the field and thinning towards muzzle. Retains the vast majority of the case colors, with some thinning to edges and vibrant in protected areas. Stocks are very good with some minor handling marks from the field, moreso to forearm. Exterior forearm iron with cleaned oxidation. Mechanically fine with exception of ejector which does not throw snapcap. Bore is very good, with some minor orange peel ahead of forcing cone. Case very good with some handling marks and distress to carry handle.
