Produced by Dieudonne Joseph Renotte of Liege based on a patent he applied for in 1854. The polished blue octagon barrel is marked "D. RENOTTE / BREVETE" on the lug. Removable ejector rod retained on the underside of barrel with a single thimble. Dovetail mounted blade front sight and damaged rear. Fine grapevine motif engraved frame with finger spur trigger guard. Massive checkered walnut grip with engraved cap box butt cap. Housed in an attractive French fit oak case with cleaning rod, turnscrew, and oiler. CONDITION: Very fine overall. Barrel and cylinder retain the vast majority of their original blue with some edge wear and other marks. Frame has largely faded to an even gray patina. Engraving is sharp. Grips retain sharp checkering. Some minor impressions present, along with a few chips on the base. Very fine, bright and shiny bore. Crisp mechanics. Case has been sanded with an added coat of finish, displaying very well.
