Manufactured 1945. This is a full size 1911 with the floating chamber invented by Carbine Williams and ordered by the US Government for training purposes during the war. The left side of frame has the "GHD" Guy Drewry inspector stamp. The right side of the frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". The right slide is stamped "COLT SERVICE MODEL ACE" in a diamond with ".22 LONG RIFLE". The original Colt factory parkerized finish has the heat temper line on the forward 2 - 1/8" of slide. Also has the correct factory target sight, short checkered trigger, checkered wide spur hammer, checkered arched mainspring housing with lanyard loop, checkered slide stop, and checkered safety. Pistol sports Keyes style brown plastic grips. The original blued magazine is stamped with Colt Service Model .22 Ace legend. CONDITION: Excellent. There is a hint of wear at muzzle, a touch here and there on some high edges and a few minor handling marks only. Solid 95% all original finish pistol with sharp as new legends. Bore is bright. A super example of a very desirable Service pistol
