According to the Colt factory archive letter this gun left the factory as a, .45/c with a 3" barrel, the finish was blue and the stocks are not listed. It was shipped to Dunlay & Geisler in Houston, Tx. on September 20, 1894 in a shipment of 2 guns. There is also a letter from George T. Jackson of Frontier Arms Gallery dated March 24, 1989 explaining how rare this gun is and what condition it is in. There is also a four page letter from Ron Graham of Antique & Classic Arms Gallery dated Feb. 18, 2001. It also describes the condition of this gun and the rarity of it. Small two line address on top of the barrel. Colt used the die from the the 1877 DA because the 3" barrel was to short to use the original SAA die. 45 COLT caliber designation on the left side of the barrel. Two line patent dates on the left side of the frame. Rampant Colt logo in a circle on the left side of the frame. Matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, backstrap and on the inside of each grip. Bin number 321 is on the loading gate. The stocks are two piece checkered hard rubber with the Rampant Colt logo at the top of each grip. CONDITION: This gun retains vast amounts of the original factory applied blue finish. The majority of the finish loss is to the front and rear grip straps. Vibrant case colors on the frame and the hammer. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. The checkering on the grips is sharp and crisp. The action locks up tight and indexes fine. The gun has all four clicks. A very rare and desirable gun.
