Ishido Teruhide was of the 10th and last generation of the Ishido Korekazu smiths; he was Betski ranked in the Nihon Token Tanrenjo, and post-War he made planes for carpenters which were highly prized. The fuchi is inlaid with a gilt silver maru ni mokko kamon, and the sword knot is a very rare general's knot of brown and orange coloring, with golden thread interwoven and tassels. The balance of the mounts are of the Type 94 fashion, with gilt edges throughout. 67.1cm nagasa of shinogi zukuri form with chu kissaki, iori mune, ha agari kurijiri nakagojiri, kesho yasurime and signed katanamei "Ishido Teruhide Saku" one mekugi-ana, slightly expanded, possibly to change munts. Shakudo catscratch habaki. Jihada is an extremely tight ko-itame, almost nashiji. Gunome midare hamon, boshi is ko maru. Seppa and tsuba with matching kanji, appears to be "18" and another set. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is in polish, somewhat more obscured at the boshi, with some superficial scratches, but clear features. Mounts are excellent with some minor handling marks and rubs, retaining the vast majority of the paint of says, and definition to mounts. Latch is bent down and does not catch to saya. General's knot is strong and correctly does not flouresce under UV. This is an excellent package, with a great maker, great mount, and very rare knot.
