Per included factory research the serial number was applied to this rifle August 6, 1906 and it was shipped from the Winchester warehouse on August 25 of the same year. Rifle sports a blued octagonal barrel chambered in .22 WRF with blade front sight and v-notch rear. Blued takedown receiver mounted with a folding aperture tang sight. Standard corrugated walnut slide. Gloss finished figured walnut stock with checkered pistol grip, hard rubber WRACO grip cap, and blued crescent butt plate. Stock stamped "1557" under the butt plate, the matching "1557 XX" assembly number and wood grade present on the lower tang. Factory research confirms configuration, sights unlisted. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel and magazine retain the vast majority of their factory blue with some high edge wear. Receiver blue has largely faded to a brown patina. Stocks are very good with some mild nicks and impression, as well as a few spots of varnish loss and minor splits between the lower tang and grip cap. Good, strong bore. Fine mechanics.
