Third Reich Second Model Railway Leader's Dagger by Carl Eickhorn with correct hanger and portepee. The Second Model Railway Dagger was introduced in 1937 and this new design gave the organization's dagger a more identifiable look, as opposed to it's first model dagger which was patterned off the dress dagger of the Heer. The dagger features a nickel-plated steel blade with visible cross graining and light blemishes throughout its length. Light runner marks are observed on each side of the blade from being inserted and removed from the scabbard. The blade features the manufacturer's squirrel logo etched on the reverse of the blade, near the cross guard and is marked "ORIGINAL / Eickhorn / SOLINGEN". The aluminum cross guard and pommel cap exhibit nice darkened finish with pleasing patina. The black trylon grip is excellent with only minor light handling wear. The steel plating of the scabbard mostly intact with a pleasing patina and minor oxidation at the throat. The correct silver with black trimmed hangers also accompany this dagger and are in excellent condition, with a pleasing patina to the fittings. Black backing is completely intact. The silver and black portepee also accompanies this dagger and is attached to the grip. The portepee exhibits fraying in areas, especially around the crossguard, but remains intact and secured to the dagger, and was likely never removed. This is a rare opportunity to own a desirable, and seldom encountered Second Model Railway Dagger with the correct components. CONDITION: Very good.
