This gun was made in 1861 and was the second most widely used rifle by both the North & South during the Civil War. Standard issue. Lock has the Crown with Tower 1861. Stamped with Birmingham proofs on left side barrel. Right side of stock has Birmingham circular cartouche. Standard features include full-length walnut stock, correct rear sight, brass furniture, three bands, two swivels on the front, missing rear, and cleaning rod. CONDITION: Good. All iron hardware is brown patina, some pitting at breech and bands reblued. Brass has been cleaned. Legends are crisp. Stock has been varnished. Wood putty repaired crack on right side at lock, with upper broken off piece spliced. Left side of stock is cracked as well. Fine working order. Bore is dark and dirty.
