According to the factory letter this shotgun was sold in 1974, with 28" barrels choked full and full. Presently, barrels are marked for Modified and Full. Barrels are fitted with narrow, matted, ventilated rib; Browning name, Utah and Montreal addresses, and "Made in Belgium" are hand engraved on left side of top barrel. Right side is engraved "Browning Patents 20 Ga Shells 3" Special Steel". Coin-finished small-sized action has nicely filed fences; bottom is nicely rounded in superlight style. Action is fitted with checkered single selective trigger. Action is engraved with large format flowing acanthus scroll over a background of tightly executed diminutive English scroll. In "The Browning Superposed", New Schwing illustrates another gun with this pattern of engraving and indicates that, according to factory records this particular pattern was used on only 8 guns. The engraver's signature "C Baerten" (Claude) is at bottom right of left side of receiver. Trigger guard engraved en suite. Long tang, square knob buttstock of flame crotch figured Claro walnut measures 14 - 3/8" over skip line checkered wood butt with inset scale retained by a pair of floral engraved screws. Modified point pattern checkering wraps over top of grip. Superlight style schnabeled forend is of crotch-figured walnut and matches fairly well. Tan Hartman case is lined in faux fur, and contains Browning guarantee for this gun, and a key. CONDITION: Excellent, retaining virtually all of the factory finishes, and appears unfired since proof. Some minor silvering along barrels from sliding forearm. and a few minor handling marks to wood, most offensive on left side of pistol grip. Engraving is crisp and well cut. Mechanically excellent. Case is excellent. A superb, rare, small bore superposed.
