Circa 1920. 30" chopper lump barrels with a bead front sight on a narrow, concave, smooth rib with Purdey's Audley House address and Joseph Whitworth's fluid steel designation, rear most section of rib with very small acanthus scrollwork, and stiff leaf engraving at the breech. Barrel flats with British Nitro proofs for a 12 gauge at 1 - 1/8 oz of shot, 2- 3/4" chambers, at 3 - 1/4 tons and nominal .729 IBD. "CHOKE" ahead of left tube flat, both tubes with serial numbers on underside, and "CA" barrel maker initials on left barrel. "54361" and "54362" tube numbers on either side of forearm loop. Splinter tip forearm with reinforced Anson plunger release, checkered in point pattern and engraved with florals and scroll on exterior iron. Interior iron with serial number, and engraved floral, and actioner's initials "JT". Sidelocks engraved with classic Purdey house rose and scroll, with two central bouquets accented by scrollwork, signed "J. Purdey & Sons" on the bottom of each plate. Cocking indicators. Single mechanical trigger protected by a flat bottom trigger guard with long tang engraved with scroll and serial number. Automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold ahead of slide. Nicely figured walnut stock constructed with teardrops behind locks, point pattern checkering with mullered borders about the English straight grip, silver oval at toe line, and English style pigskin wrapped recoil pad with covered screws. CONDITION: Barrels with the vast majority of a well executed reblack, with some minor handling marks, a few very fine pits under the bluing. Action is essentially bright metal throughout with some flashes of trace colors in the most protected areas, with some areas of mossing and oil staining. Stocks good with handling marks and impressions throughout. Forearm with a notable impression on left side, left side of comb with a few heavier impressions. Mechanically fine, ejectors are strong and in time, bores are very good with some very minor frosting.
