Manufactured 1943-1944 per Clawson. Iconic profile with serrated ramp front sight, square notch flat top rear sight, "P" proof in front of rear sight, 2-line 2-block patent and address information with intercepting Rampant Colt. Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, "F" in front of lug, and "P" on right lug. Polished feed ramp. Small parts are spurred checkered hammer, thick tab safety, checkered slide release, short stamped trigger, checkered magazine release, long A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Coltwood grips with thick rings. Typical inspection marks throughout. Magazine marked "L" on baseplate lip, denoting Little manufacture. CONDITION: Retains virtually all of a period repark, probably arsenal. Barrel blue is original. Some spotting common to old park throughout and silvering at reciprocating areas and high edges consistent with holster wear. Typical takedown mark. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some mild frosting towards chamber. A good example of a wartime gun.
