Circa 1943 per serial number. Serrated slope front sight and square notch flat top rear sight, with "P" ahead of rear sight, oriented to be read with muzzle up. Left side of slide with two-line two-block patent and address and intercepting Colt pony, correctly numbered to the frame under the firing pin retaining plate. Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, "P" on left lug, and "P" in front of lug. "G" stamped on top of frame near disconnector. Left side of frame with "G.H.D." proof for Guy H. Drewry, "P" at magazine release, right side with US property marking, model designation, serial number, and crossed cannon cartouche. Left side of trigger guard with upside down "W" proof, Colt's VP proof, right side with "73" inspector. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thick tab safety, checkered slide release, checkered magazine release, short checkered trigger, long A1 grip safety, and arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Grips are Coltwood plastic with reinforcing rib and thick rings. Magazine with "L" on lip indicating manufacture by Little. CONDITION: Very good, retaining virtually all of the original parkerization, with burnishing still visible in crossed cannon cartouche. Some typical silvering and handling marks throughout, somewhat heavier at muzzle, and including a takedown mark. Stocks are very good with some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine, bore with visible rifling and some mild oxidation, somewhat heavier towards muzzle.
