According to the Colt Factory archive letter, this gun left the factory as a .41 Colt with a 3 - 1/2" barrel. It was nickel with the stocks not listed. It was shipped to N. Curry and Brothers, San Francisco, California, on December 22, 1885, in a shipment of 10 guns, making it a true Western shipped gun. It has a half moon front sight with a V notch rear sight. Six shot fluted cylinder and two piece mother of pearl grips. Two line barrel address on top of the barrel. "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." Etched panel on the left side of the barrel. "COLT D.A. 41." Three line patent dates on the left of the frame. Matching serial numbers observed on the frame, trigger guard, and the backstrap. The last three digits of the serial number are on the back of the cylinder. CONDITION: This gun retains virtually all of the original factory applied nickel finish. Nitre blue small parts have the vast majority of their finish. Mother of pearl grips fit the gun very well. Bore is fair, with well defined lands and grooves. A high condition 1877DA Colt.
