Received in the Winchester warehouse August 22, 1884 and shipped out nearly a year later on September 12, 1885 as a special order rifle with 30" octagon barrel and set trigger. Rifle remains as shipped, featuring a blued 30" octagon barrel chambered in .44-40 with 2-line address, combination front sight, and buckhorn rear. 3rd model receiver with single set trigger. Stocks are American walnut with blued steel nose cap and tool trap rifle butt plate. Complete with 2022 dated Cody research letter confirming factory configuration, sights unlisted. CONDITION: Fine. Barrel and magazine tube retain significant portions of factory blue in the protected areas, the balance fading to brown/gray patina. Receiver retains the majority of its factory blue, drifting to chocolate patina. Stocks appear lightly cleaned with usual nicks and impressions. Especially strong bore with some mild cleaned oxidation spots. Crisp mechanics. Set trigger in working order. A nice special order '73.
